ProblemSwitching AI tools slows lawyers down and invites unapproved ones.
CortegaConnect Claude Code and ChatGPT to your firm’s approved models.
No need to switch to new tools, use expensive foundation models or risk privacy
Lawyers already use Claude and ChatGPT. Each prompt can carry privileged client information to a hosted service. Answers can cite cases that do not exist or misread a contract, and per-token costs grow with every matter.

Private inference requires a supported tool configured to use a private model route, with supporting services inside the same boundary. Using a hosted Claude or ChatGPT service does not itself provide private inference.
Keep the AI tools your lawyers already use, including Claude Code and ChatGPT. Cortega applies policies to tag and route messages and perform inline hallucination and accuracy checks before delivering AI responses back to your workspace. Recorded traffic supports separate agent analysis and human review.
Sign in to Cortega and configure installed AI tools to use your firm’s gateway. Choose the current matter and mark privileged or sensitive work from your workspace. These settings are held on the server and applied to requests across your configured tools.
Cortega Legal configures installed tools to use your firm’s gateway, checks for configuration drift, and provides an undo action for the settings it manages.
Select an active matter from your firm’s list. Mark sensitive work to apply the firm’s Sensitive team routing, model authorization, guardrails, and budget.
Verify citations in a selection or document. Review inline diagnostics or a document report. Configured AI tools can call the Legal MCP citation checker on their drafts.
Legal citation verification →An MCP tool runs when the model decides to call it, and it sees only what the model sends. Cortega Legal adds the tool to your AI tools and also checks the response at the gateway, with the lawyer's question and the source documents in hand. The gateway applies the checks to every request it governs.
Sign in to Cortega Legal and the Legal MCP server is added to Claude Code and Codex. There is no server address to find, no tool to enable, and no file to edit. The extension checks the entries every five minutes and repairs them. Undo, sign out, and uninstall remove them.
Each person gets one Cortega key, created the first time they sign in. The same key reaches the gateway and the MCP server, and nobody copies it. On every call the server checks that the person is still an active user with citation checking permission, so access ends when the person is deactivated.
The gateway holds the question, the documents in the interaction, and the model's full response. The checks run on that response and do not depend on the model calling a tool. A firm can pair a lower-cost model with the same checks.
Each cited case is looked up and matched by name. A claim-support judge rules on whether the opinion supports the point and is relevant to the question. For contracts and discovery documents, document grounding checks each statement against the document text and flags what the source does not support. Together the checks reduce hallucinated citations and raise accuracy.
AI Accuracy Improver →When the inline check is on, a failed citation goes back to the original model to drop or correct, and the check runs again. Every response and finding is recorded in your Cortega for review and observability, so the firm builds its own accuracy data.
Legal citation verification →Cortega AI Bench includes a legal hallucination suite. A sample passes only when every citation in the model's response resolves in the case-law record. Run it on a model alone, run it again with Cortega in front of the same model, and compare. The results come from runs your firm controls.
Cortega AI Bench →Classify requests by sensitivity and select among configured sensitive and standard routes. Explicitly marked sensitive work uses the firm’s Sensitive team. Configure its destinations for your private-model and data-handling requirements.
Privilege classification & routing →Suggest a matter from the firm’s own list after a conversation goes quiet. A person confirms or changes the suggestion; the review history preserves both decisions. The workspace’s selected matter is recorded on requests.
Matter Agent →Use private AI for document analysis, summaries, and relevance review within an authorized discovery scope. Combine sensitivity-based routing with source verification and review of the resulting findings.
Discovery workflow →Check an answer against the source documents supplied in the interaction. Document grounding identifies unsupported extracted fields and statements for review, with audit or enforcement behavior configured for the workflow.
Document grounding & accuracy →Analyze configured, recorded AI responses for legal citations and claim support. Retain findings for review. This analysis is separate from inline checks that run before an answer is returned.
AI Verifier Agent →Apply citation, document-grounding, and policy checks in the governed response path. Legal citation checks can ask the original model to correct an answer; configured actions determine how failures are handled.
Inline verification →Check whether a citation resolves and whether the cited authority supports the claim. Legal MCP tools make the same verification available when reviewing a draft.
Ground extracted information in supplied documents or pasted source text. Review the identified evidence and verdicts alongside the answer.
Confirm Matter Agent suggestions and review verification findings before using the work product. Matter tagging records context; it does not automatically establish per-matter budgets or routing.
